What is the
West Michigan
Regional Medical Control Consortium?

The West Michigan Medical Control Consortium is a group of state designated medical control authorities working as a group to accomplish some common goals. The consortium includes the medical control authorities for Allegan, Barry, Ionia, Kalamazoo, Kent, Lake, Osceola, Mason, Montcalm, Muskegon, Newaygo, Oceana and Ottawa counties. The process began in the development of a regional trauma system and has grown to include regional protocol development and regional quality improvement. Active Members of Regional Protocol Committee
How Michigan Medical Control Authorities can Adopt the Regional Protocols

The combined regions of West Michigan and Southwest Michigan have jointly developed standardized protocols for the entire twenty county area. The West Michigan Regional Protocols have been approved by the Michigan Department of Consumer and Industry Services EMS Division as protocols and may be implemented by Medical Control Authorities in Michigan.

The regional protocol committee meets the fourth Tuesday of every other month. The location changes frequently. For the location of the next meeting, contact Damon Obiden at 616-451-8438.  If you would like to make any comments on these protocols, you are encouraged to contact any of the Active Members of the regional protocol committee listed below.

All of the regional protocol, policy and procedure files are in Adobe .pdf format and have been combined into one CD-ROM. You will need a copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader. If needed, you can download a copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Michigan Medical Control Authorities interested in adopting these protocols for use should click here for the procedure to follow.

Regional Quality Improvement

Since the completion of the initial Regional Protocol set, the Regional Quality Improvement Committee has been meeting to foster region wide quality improvement efforts. The committee has developed an audit process for agencies which will allow an agency to review its' own data while benchmarking their data against regional data.
